Darwins Castings
Darwins is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of steel castings, and has been trading since 1774. Based in Sheffield, the company is taking South Yorkshire’s proud steel-making history into the future.
It was this heritage combined with foresight that formed the basis for the brand strategy D4 created. Our aim was to launch a dynamic new brand into the market place, attracting new customers through improved communication.
Darwins’ existing literature was dated and their website did not reflect the quality of the workmanship and expertise of the company. The new brand, emphasising quality, tradition, expertise and technology, was rolled out across every area of the company’s communication.
Striking photography – art-directed by D4 – is at the heart of the website and brochure. Well crafted copy helps set the tone and presents information in a way which is simple, engaging and compelling. An Online ‘Order Tracking’ system and CD ROM gives them a competitive edge.
The outcomes for the company are clear: major new contracts and recognition as forward-thinking industry leaders have been won, press coverage has followed, and Darwins is now the first choice in the UK and Europe. As a result the website has now been translated into four other languages.
And for D4, the project has resulted in a design award nomination, so everyone’s happy.
