Fernco Environmental

Fernco is the parent company of Flexseal and Fernco Environmental, two South Yorkshire-based businesses leading the UK market in the supply of couplings and the design of specialist environmental products respectively.

 

Flexseal

D4 was initially commissioned to refresh the Flexseal brand and create a new website with greater functionality, improved navigation and the ability for content to be managed in-house – a more effective marketing tool for the company.

We took the brief and ran with it. Working with the existing brand, we reworked and refreshed key design elements, and implemented a database-driven website  www.flexseal.co.uk with integrated content management system (CMS).

As well as including a Flash banner to add interest, and dynamic links through to the Home page, we implemented key features such as image display capabilities – allowing videos and slideshows to be uploaded – and an image enlarge function, allowing visitors to view important detail on technical diagrams. Because of the nature of Flexseal’s products, these capabilities were of huge value in communicating clearly with potential customers.

The site was described by Flexseal’s Marketing Manager Ed Fairfield as, “a revolution in how we presented our company online”. And he went on to explain: “Our bounce rate went down from around 70% prior to launch to an average of around 28% since launch. We now receive between 80-110 unique visits per day, as opposed to around 75 prior to relaunch.

“Aside from vast improvements in the visual presentation, the best feature of our new website is our ability to quickly and easily update the content in-house – with the ongoing support of D4, we have taken full advantage.”

D4 has since designed and built a website for Flexseal Germany and is currently developing an Australian version too.

 

Fernco Environmental

On the strength of our work for Flexseal, D4 was commissioned to create a brand for new start-up Fernco Environmental. Our brief was also to design and build a database-driven website with integrated CMS, which would enable the company to build a strong online presence and virtual ‘shop front’ that potential customers could be referred to.

We developed a brand that would sit comfortably within the Fernco family and rolled out the design across all aspects of the company’s business, creating exhibition graphics and corporate literature. The website www.ferncoenvironmental.com incorporates the same functions that ensured the success of the Flexseal site, allowing content to be easily updated and visitors to navigate their way round smoothly, viewing videos, slideshows and technical diagrams.

To allow Fernco Environmental to visually describe the intricate functions of its key products, we also produced an animated 3D render. This investment, which is used on the website and at exhibitions, demonstrates complex information in a faster and more meaningful way than could ever be achieved with words.

As a result of our work Fernco Environmental is now a recognised brand within its industry, and the number of visitors to the website, and subsequent enquiries, grows month by month. International interest has increased, particularly from Australasia, leading directly to new business. Another great success story.
