In 2016 Arkote Ltd, the world’s leading tobacco blade manufacturer, acquired Hardy UK, the market leading manufacturer of precision knives to the leather industry. From the outset Managing Director Peter Oxspring and Commercial Director Rob Andrews brought in d4 to help deliver their vision of the ‘future’ Hardy.
As 95% of the business’ sales are export it was clear that this 160 year old industrial brand needed to be rebuilt for the new digital world. For over a year we worked together in a highly collaborative process to revitalise the brand, transforming all the touchpoints and delivering the key sales tools in multi language versions.
We crafted a new identity aligned to an ambitious global growth strategy, and built a website and 3D animations that reflected the substantial investment in premises, state-of-the-art machinery and people that the takeover had created.
We drew on the past to engineer a refreshed brand for Hardy and debuted the bolder, more dynamic, digital ready business to their customers and global sales agents in a rapturous reception at the SIMAC 2017 trade show in Milan.
“We have been very happy with the service and results from our first projects with the team at D4. From our first meeting with Paul and Justin they got the brief exactly. The actual working project with Paul, Matt and Jeremy was very well managed and clear at all stages. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to other industrial clients looking for a new brand identity.”
